5 Tips on Practising Mindfulness in Our Busy Daily Life

MINDFULNESS

Practicing mindfulness doesn’t require a posh classroom, an expensive setup, or anything that’s not doable or reachable. Mindfulness is essentially a state of mind that you master with practice. Mind as they say is a muscle and it grows when you exercise it.

Mindfulness can seem like a solution to all common problems but spending a few minutes each day in our busy lives can also be very arduous for a lot of us. Here is the good news – you can start simple and build your way up. Slowly with practice, mindfulness will become your default state of mind.

Try doing the following for a great start:

  1. Go for nature walks for at least 15 minutes each day. Try to observe the intricacies of nature instead of ruminating over any of the day’s events. Watch the sky for a bit longer, observe the flitting clouds, and try to see patterns in the way flower petals are arranged!
  2. Avoid multi-tasking. It is one over-hyped term that gnaws on our potential and peace, both. Being mindful is all about being focused on what’s around and at hand.
  3. Create a mindfulness journal. Write down whatever you can observe in the surroundings while sitting still. Try to include as many minutest details as possible. Do this exercise for at least 15 days, every day at night.
  4. Take mini-breaks throughout the day and stretch your body. Release all worries and focus on your breathing for 60 seconds before resuming your work. This way mindfulness will become a way of life for you.
  5. Be mindful of what you consume for entertainment. Stay away from anything that is negative or feeds your brain the fodder to ruminate over. Switch off negative news and try mindfulness meditations on YouTube right before sleeping.

We hope this blog was a good introduction for you to mindfulness. Remember, a thousand-mile journey begins with a single step. So no matter how new you are to the concept, take the first baby steps and watch your life transform as you unlock the magic of mindfulness.
